Dear Parents & Carers,
This week I have spent a little bit of time looking through the school diary. It makes me happy to see so many exciting activities planned for the coming days and weeks. Everyone is working hard to provide the children with a balanced and dynamic curriculum. This educational diversity can be seen and heard in the faces and conversations of children and adults at Newport Primary.
Enterprise Week has been a big success, with everyone getting involved and working hard. It has been difficult to resist temptation and not eat lots of the bread that the Year 1 classes have baked.
Year 6 have been working hard thinking of ways to part people with their money. A large number of children have spent this week asking adults and children what they think about a wide variety of money making schemes.
These fund raising activities will go a long way to providing some extra money for their upcoming trip to Edinburgh.
On Thursday, Year 5 children went and visited the Apple Store in Westfield. I heard from their teacher’s that the
behaviour was excellent and that the children have chosen some very expensive presents for their next birthdays.
Parents be warned!
Year 3 children have been on a trip to Wanstead Park. I am looking forward to hearing about their trip and reading their
follow up work.
The Shine children, along with some especially chosen Year 5’s went to see ‘Some Like it Hip-Hop’ at the Peacock
Theatre on Saturday. As usual the behaviour was very good, plus I also heard that some of the children were standing up, singing, clapping and dancing along. It sounds like everyone had a fantastic time.
Finally, a big congratulations to Suzanne Wilson and Maariya Patel who recently entered a competition to create and design a poster for the 2013 UEFA Champions Festival. Their work will be transformed into giant posters that will decorate the border of the festival.
