Newport News
Everyone welcome - everyone included
Dear Parents/Carers,
We have had yet another busy and purposeful week’s learning and I must take this opportunity to say how impressed we are with the effort the children are making with their presentation.
Handwriting, presentation of learning and knowing your times tables are a big focus for all Newport pupils this year, if you would like to know how to support your child with any of these or other aspects please talk to your child’s class teacher.
Year 2 had a wonderful day at the Science Museum and I wish to thank all the staff and volunteers for ensuring the trip was as successful as possible. The school is currently collecting tinned and dried food as part of our celebration of Harvest festival, we are asking all children to contribute one item each which will then form the school’s Harvest donation. All food collected will be donated to the London City Mission, who work with homeless people living in our city.
We have noticed that some children have been bringing balls and toys in to school for use during play times, which is not allowed. We provide a range of activities and resources at break times for the children and the class ambassadors are involved in reviewing what we currently provide and deciding if and what types of additional equipment may be needed.
Extra balls and toys often lead to problems and disagreements and I am asking for you to help us by ensuring your child does not bring these items into school.
Lastly I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and relaxing weekend and I look forward to seeing
you all on Monday.
Kind Regards,
Prue Barnes, Headteacher

When you see images of devastation across the world, particularly in East Africa, we remember how important it is to acknoledge what we have and think about people less fortunate. Our special harvest assembly is on 30th September.
Joel, our local Minister, will be talking about the meaning of harvest. Each year we collect food to give to local charities for families in need.
Each class will have a box to fill. If every child bought in one item we wold have over 600 items to help others. Please do not send in fresh food. Thank you for your support!
