Borough ‘Green’ News
Summer tree news – Waltham Forest is carrying out a consultation on the development of it’s current Tree Strategy.
You can fill in an on-line survey (it only takes a couple of minutes) and you will get your chance to comment on the landscape in our Borough.

Go Green at Vestry House Museum
The Vestry House Museum in Waltham Forest have a Shades of Green exhibition – running from the 7th to the 29th August.
This display is going to be a ‘…feast of forests, with a great display of the idyllic gardens and summer in Waltham Forest’.
From the 3rd to the 12th September the museum has the return of the ever popular E17 Art Trail. The theme for the displays and activities this year is ‘Welcome to Walthamstow’.
The E17 Art Trail have a great web site where you can see images from last years events and venues, as well as details of how the displays and participants are organised.
Get ‘arty’ this summer with all the family and the Vestry House Museum.
Receptionist/Dinner Money post
Newport School is looking for a new member of staff for September 2010.
You can find details of this school vacancy on our school jobs page on the Newport School web site.
There is an information pack about the post, as well as an application form that you can download and complete.
Do browse our website, look at our galleries and see the links to our Children Centre. They will give you an insight into the work of the school and its team, while you are preparing your application.

This summer many families and children may be traveling abroad to visit family and friends.
The NHS have produced a new website packed with information about traveling healthily, telephone advice lines and up to date health information on destination countries.
NaTHNaC is the National travel Health Network and Centre, its pages designed to keep parents, carers and children informed on travel health issues.

Children’s Art Day 2010
Children’s Art Day events for 2010 run across the week 12th to 18th July 2010.
On the engage in the visual arts web pages you can find out what is going in in your favourite part of the city.
From a family day on Saturday at the Whitechapel Gallery from 12 – 4pm, to a taster session in Chinese art at the Chinese Comunity Centre in Gerrard Street – there is a range of free activities available.
Children’s Art Day is the UK-wide programme encouraging children, young people, families and teachers to engage with the visual arts. Events will take place across the UK between 12-18 July 2010.

World Cup 2010 – view from the classroom
Following the recent Newport School World Cup competition, the BBC have produced a World Cup school photo page.
Schools from around the world have contributed images to the BBC News website – showing how they have responded to the World Cup.

Volunteering and the 2012 Games
It is estimated that some 70,000 volunteers will be needed to help get the 2012 events under way.
Volunteering England have just set up some new web pages to help you find out about volunteering as part of the 2012 Olympic events.
Whether you can spare some time to volunteer at a Children Centre, school or even as part of the international team at the 2012 Games – the Volunteering England I Want to Volunteer pages are a great place to start.
Cinderella in the Park
The Wadham Players are staging a performance of The Story of Cinderella on Saturday 10th July 2010.
An adaption of the classic fairytale by Charles Way – the event takes place for family members of all ages, starting at 3.00pm.
The event will be staged at the Waterworks Nature Reserve and Golf Centre in Lammas Road, off the Lea Bridge Road.
